Blake Shelton quits ‘The Voice’ after 23 years: “Hell Ride”

The Voice also said that country singer Niall Horan, rapper Chance the Rapper, and singer Kelly Clarkson will be the coaches for season 23. After 12 years as a coach on The Voice, Blake Shelton has decided to step away from the show.

The singer of “God’s Country” said on Tuesday that the next season of the singing competition show will be his last. Before he leaves, he will have been on the show for 23 straight seasons.

The 46-year-old country star said in an Instagram post, “I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and I’ve decided it’s time for me to leave The Voice after season 23.” “Everything about this show has made my life better, and it will always feel like home to me.”

He kept going, “It’s been a crazy 12 years of chair turns, and I want to thank everyone at NBC’s “The Voice”—every producer, writer, musician, crew member, and caterer—for being so great. “To do a live show twice a week, you need a lot of work, passion, and adult beverages (ha!).” Shelton then talked about the relationships he made on the show and gave the contestants a shout-out.

Over the years, I’ve made lifelong connections with Carson and all of my other coaches, including my wife, Gwen Stefani.

I have to give a big shoutout to the singers on “The Voice” who come on this stage every season and amaze us with their talent. I also want to thank those who chose me as their coach. “

Then he said: “Lastly, it’s about you, the fans, who watch and support these artists, us coaches, and everyone at “The Voice” as they go after their dreams. Without you, it wouldn’t have happened.

Shelton joined Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, and CeeLo Green as a coach for the first season. Levine left the show after season 16. Since then, Miley Cyrus, Shakira, Usher, Nick Jonas, and more have sat in the red chairs. Team Shelton won a total of eight times while he was on the show. Aside from Shelton’s departure, The Voice also revealed who will join him as a coach for season 23. Coaches include Chance the Rapper and Niall Horan.

The stars hinted at the news earlier in the day by posting a peace sign emoji and tagging each other on Instagram. After hearing the news, they all talked about how excited they were for the new season.

The 29-year-old “Sunday Candy” singer said, “I’m so excited to be a coach on The Voice next season.” I’m excited to help other artists get to the next level and make the most of this life-changing opportunity. Teamchance is coming, so get ready. ” Horan, 29, added, “I’m thrilled to be a coach on this season of The Voice. I can’t wait to meet the new crop of talent and help guide them while we battle the other teams! “

The 40-year-old “Since You’ve Been Gone” singer said she was “so excited to be back with my Voice family!”

The premiere date for season 23 hasn’t been set yet, but Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Camila Cabello, and John Legend are coaches in season 22, which airs on NBC Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
